Association Representatives Participated in the Defense and Security Industry Council Meeting
During the Defense and Security Industry Council meeting, representatives of the Ministry of National Defense presented proposed priorities for discussion. These priorities are aligned with the implementation plan of the Government's program provisions, focusing on the development of the defense and security industry.
The association’s representatives submitted the following proposals for discussion and review:
- Strengthening industrial cooperation in major defense procurements;
- Greater inclusion of Lithuanian industry in ongoing and planned projects;
- Maintaining the minimum viability of previous investments and existing defense industry capabilities;
- Incorporating clear performance indicators into the Ministry of National Defense's strategic plans and ensuring regular reporting on their implementation.
The association emphasized that, while the Law on the Lithuanian Defense and Security Industry explicitly outlines the mechanism of industrial cooperation and its benefits, the practical implementation of this mechanism faces significant challenges. Although some of these challenges may be attributed to the urgency of procurement processes, the association strongly urges the maximum application of the industrial cooperation mechanism.
Such a decision would not only promote the growth of Lithuania's industry and economy but also strengthen national security in the long term.
