The Importance of NSN Numbers for the Lithuanian Defence Industry – Practical Seminar with the National Codification Bureau of the Defence Resource Agency
Today, the Lithuanian Defence and Security Industry Association (LGSPA), together with representatives of the National Codification Bureau of the Defence Resource Agency, held a consultative event for the national defence industry community.
During the meeting, a detailed presentation was given on what an NSN (NATO Stock Number) is – a NATO item numbering system that helps identify military-purpose products throughout the Alliance's supply chain. The procedures for assigning an NSN, its purpose, and the added value it brings to Lithuanian companies aiming to become part of NATO supply chains were discussed.
Participants had the opportunity to ask questions and receive answers from codification experts – ranging from practical examples to specific requirements for different product groups.
The NSN is not only a tool of standardization but also a mark of recognition that opens doors to international supply networks and strengthens the competitiveness of Lithuania’s defence industry.
